Café Esencia is a café + winebar inspired by the rich food culture of Spain during La Convivencia.
La Convivencia was a time when Christians, Muslims, and Jews lived, coexisted and thrived in Southern Spain. We draw on the flavors, aromas, and essences from the era to create shareable and flavorful dishes.
Café Esencia is a peaceful retreat from hectic city life; where you can eat everyday and walk out feeling better than when you came in.
We source our fresh produce locally from organic farms, while spices are sourced for quality and fairness from all around the world.
We serve traditional sourdough churros called porras. The probiotic culture and simple ingredients keep these churros light and digestible. The saying goes “you shouldn’t remember a good churro-maker”, contrasting great churros from heavy churros.
In traditional towns all over Andalucía people enjoy these churros daily as part of their mediterranean diet. The traditional vegan batter is closer to bread, as it doesn’t contain egg , sugar, or dairy. It’s up to you how much sugar you want to add, and whether you dip them in thick delicious chocolate or your coffee.
As for the drinks, all of our coffee beans are Fair-Trade and Organic certified. Our chai is homemade using organic spices. Rose petals from Egypt & Bulgarian rose water are combined to create homemade Rose Syrup for our lattes.
